Close Up V: Instagram + The Changing Landscape of Photography

Spring is here! And you know what that means? Yes, we’re getting excited and gearing ourselves up for the first Close Up talk of the year!

Close Up V will focus on our obsession (and loathing) of the photo sharing platform Instagram – from commercial to fine art and documentary we’ll be investigating how photographers perceive and approach the platform while also using it within their practice and not just as an online profile. We’ll hear from photographers, influencers and agents on the topic and also give the floor to you guys to share your opinion.

Our wonderful line up of talented speakers include:

The Travel & Lifestyle photographer Kim Leuenberger who splits her time between her final year studies at LCC and working with brands such as Netflix and Leica.

Instagram Consultant and Photographer Jess Angell who works with brands briefing them on their Instagram accounts, giving advice on content and helping to create content for their feeds. She has worked with brands like Barbour, Hunter, Thomson Holidays, Marc Jacobs, IKEA and Absolut Vodka as well as organisations such as the BBC.

Anna-Maria Pfab Founder & Director of Kiosk – the photographic agency representing a select group of artists working across the fields of advertising, editorial, documentary & fine art.

On the night we will also be hearing from our current Mentorship winner Joanne Coates , discussing her documentary projects such as In Plight of The Fishermen and outlining the rest of the year with The OGC.

For Close Up V we are very excited to be working with the wonderful Gallery Six and hosting the talk in their wonderful studio space. Gallery Six is a new initiative by The Old Truman Brewery; an engaging workspace specifically for first year BA graduates. Members of Gallery Six can use the space to develop personal projects, to collaborate on in-house Truman projects and to collaborate with each other!

We are also delighted to be working with Metro Imaging again – London’s premier photographic print and framing lab and are extremely grateful for their continued support.

All welcome!
