“Fear of Failure Phobia – Atychiphobia. Normal amount of doubt regarding success
in certain project, relationships or examinations is usually present in most people”
This month we travel to the creative hub of Dublin to discuss the fear of failure, an issue that most of us suffer from during a creative career, but rarely share in open dialogue with our peers.
Join us Thursday 12th October 6.30pm-9pm at The Gallery of Photography as we shine a light on our fears, discuss our failures and listen to top visual artists share their stories and words of wisdom…
We are always fortunate to work with many creative and inspiring people, and this talk is no exception! See our wonderful line-up of influential speakers below and stay tuned to our blog as we share individual features on them and their work in the run up to ‘The Fear’.
Kate Nolan is an Irish visual artist based in Dublin, Ireland, focused on extended photographic stories that examine the nature of identity. Drawn to “in-between” places, she is intrigued by the effects of shifting histories of areas in flux.
Her work has been shown internationally at various institutions and festivals including Benaki Museum, Athens, Greece; Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris, France; Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin, Ireland; Photo Katmandu, Nepal; PhotoIreland Festival and Belfast Photo Festival. Her work is held in public and private collections in Japan, USA, France, Portugal, Mexico, UK and Ireland.
GILLIAN HENDERSON of JILL & GILL
Jill & Gill is a Dublin based collaborative studio, made up of illustrator Jill Deering and printmaker Gillian Henderson. Established in April 2016, while collaborating on a commission piece together, the two creatives’ business has grown organically; with collaborative projects and commissions for James Vincent McMorrow, Currabinny, and Repeal project. The way in which they work is a truly collaborative process, with Jill creating elegant hand drawn images, which they, in turn, produce into screen-prints in Gillian’s Dublin-based studio.
Gillian Henderson is a print maker and designer based in Dublin. Gillian has been screen-printing since 2012 and runs her own print studio ‘Oh My Days‘, where you can see a collection of Gill’s work.
Originally from Switzerland photographer Kim Leuenberger is based in London (for now) but spends most of her time traveling to far off places documenting her adventures while collaborating on major projects for brands such as Netflix, Disney, Hertz and Leica.
Kim has recently completed a BA in Photography at UAL’s London College of Communication where she collaborated with fellow visual artist Alexander Pullin on ‘In Search of the Unfathomable Unicorn’ exploring the perceived non-existence of the Unicorn. The project follows the research journal of two “famed doctors of Cryptozoology, Dr Anita Van de Berre and Dr Winston Heaviside-Gardner, as they set out to uncover forgotten traces of the mythical Unicorn”.
Kim is currently focusing on her travel photography and building her portfolio as location scout while still working as an Instagram influencer world wide.
