Within one decade we have suffered from; a global financial crash, Isis, Brexit, a housing crisis, a rise in racism, President Trump, “Alternative Facts” in a Post- Truth Era, the increasing effects of Global Warming and of course, the invention of dating apps!
Yep, it certainly seems we are the next ‘Lost Generation’ folks…
All is not lost however, what we witnessed at the Women’s March last week (and subsequent demonstrations since) was hope, solidarity, love and a not to mention a sly streak of humour from all genders, ages and races. Gathering to unite and stand-up to what we believe is an unjust patriarchy.
The OGC was out in force, marching, chanting, waving signs and documenting the historic event while taking stock of our surroundings. From these energetic scenes we gathered our inspiration for the year ahead.
Around the world, in over 80 countries the march was conducted with strength, dignity and peace – a hopeful reminder that our generation is still vibrant and far from lost.
The OGC’s mantra is #InclusiveNotExclusive and this year we plan to continue our program of Close Up talks, creative meet-ups and workshops focused on this ethos while empowering existing and emerging artists.
